II regata internacional MazatlánApril 21 began the 2nd International of Mazatlan where you could see the competitors preparing their boats for three consecutive of days of racing.  The regattas included sailors from Canada, Cuba, United States, and of course Mexico.

The first race began with competitors vying for the best start position conceding not an inch to anyone.  This provoked a minor collision between the Gypsy, captained by Luiz Algara Lorenzana and the Moonshadow, captained by Chuck Naslund  as they closed into the finish of the race.  However, the Tecumseh captained by Eduardo and Kym Olivares after handicap calculations placed 5 minutes ahead of the 2nd place boat leaving them in good position for the next race.

The course of the second regatta was an Olympic Triangle with all the boats moving for good position in the all important start.  The Galapagos and Isadora were running for the start buoy having starboard advantage when the Spondylus cut in-between them unexpectedly.  That moment was the highlight of shouting in this regatta with voices being heard all the way to the beach.  Thanks to the abilities of Captain Jose Villalon of the Galapagos and Victor Ledon of the Isadora no collision occurred.  However, the Tecumseh who did not obtain the best start due to trying to avoid a collision of their own with Sea of the Day captained by Amado Gusman, slowly using good strategies was able to pass each of the competitors obtaining first place once again.  In absence of major tragedy this would practically guarantee first place overall to the Tecumseh.  The third race played out exactly this way with the Tecumseh prevailing first,  demonstrating top rate teamwork tactics with a 2 person crew.  This record of three consecutive wins can never  be broken but many will look to tie in the next  Internacional Regatta of Mazatlan.  Second place overall was awarded to the Spondylus, captained by Jose L. Rivera F.  and for third there was a tie between the Galapagos, captained by Jose Villalon and the Gypsy, captained by Luiz Algara Lorenzana.
