THE HOUSE OF THE CRAFTSMAN

The concept goes beyond an arts and crafts store, it is the house of Sinaloa´s craftsmen.

The place where Sinaloa´s hands work and transform sand, leather, wood, clay and natural fibers into beautiful and varied creations; a visitor can witness the whole creation procedure, and close a deal avoiding intermediaries.

About 25 craftsmen of different parts of the area gather in this site designed by Angel Sarkis, who since 8 years ago transforms sand in 13 different ways, to shape beautiful and singular creations, blended with resins, agglutinates or additives shaping necklaces, jewel cases, human body sculptures and a huge variety of objects.

Angel Sarkis has showed up in national fairs and expos with his art and Mazatlan´s messages to other states where sculptures and home usage objects are made out of sand have a lot of success, but his love to this art has gone beyond, because he had a dream to share with other craftsmen: to find a place to show his works, share his technique to be truly appreciate by the public.

That is why the house of the craftsmen was born, in an antique property on Melchor Ocampo Street between 5 de Mayo and Guillermo Nelson streets, in Old Mazatlan. The place is already the working site of 25 Sinaloa´s craftsmen, who with skilled hands transform the materials; the doors of this big house are open from 9 in the morning for those who like to admire the creativity of the people in this land, Sinaloa´s pride, there is a promise to make the place into a school and the source of new talents.

A dream becoming a reality day by day with the effort of the craftsmen and the support of the State Government, interested in supporting entrepreneur craftsmen who want to take Mazatlan´s and Sinaloa´s name throughout the world.
