This vacation, why not opt for getting out of the hubbub of the city and visiting Rancho El Manantial? This is a site located just outside of Mazatlan that has been open for 50 years and offers 40 acres for you and your family to have a great day in the open air.
Rancho El Manantial has BBQ pits, rustic swings, a bicycle path, horseback riding and even camping, if you wish. If you go horseback riding, you will ride around the ranch and afterwards go to a lookout called Cerro de Molcajete from where you will be able to see a sweeping, panoramic view of Mazatlan. The ride lasts and hour and a half and you will enter into direct contact with nature.
The ranch also has an iguana area where there are 80 species of iguana to be found! Soon a better habitat will be built for them. It is an ideal site for wild animal conservation and could be a fantastic ecological area. The Mazatlan Aquarium has donated different types of species.
Among the wild animals to be found are badgers, hawks, iguanas and parrots along with domesticated animals like ducks, roosters, chickens, geese, rabbits and raccoons. The place is noteworthy for this and the fact that is it full of big, leafy trees which make Rancho El Manantial veritable lungs for the city.
There are also excursion schools that are offered so that students can learn more about the flora and the fauna of Sinaloa. We give a small ecological talk so that the students can raise their consciousness of nature and to motivate them to take care of nature.
If you wish to go to Rancho El Manantial, head out Sabalo Cerritos to the Cerritos treatment plant and cross the train track. It is about a mile from the main road. For information of reservations call 105-5123 or 044 6699 293784. |
