Investments on the Rise

Ever since its founding Mazatlan has been a city and port of good luck.  Back then, its strategic location placed it as an important port for the exportation of precious materials and with this came a true commercial bonanza that unleashed a fever of importations of different products that led it to become considered the richest port and municipality in the country.  This extraordinary economic movement attracted many foreigners who with the passing years made their residence in the then exotic and always sensational city of Mazatlan.

The economic boom of Mazatlan continued for many years which no doubt gave our destiny the character that it currently enjoys, that is, a city with deep cosmopolitan roots.  Written history records extraordinary deeds in economic and commercial matters of the inhabitants of those years.  The clearest examples of these feats are exemplified by the Pacifico Brewery and old downtown Mazatlan, both of which have their origins precisely on the cusp of the commercial maelstrom of 19th century Mazatlan.

Mazatlan, just like all other cities of the world, has suffered its share of ups and downs such as invasions, wars, rebellions, upheavals, protests, plagues and revolutions and it has recovered from all of them.

The richness of experiences lived by those Mazatlecans has been engraved into the historic memory of the city’s current inhabitants.  From here many of the activities seem to be out of the natural context of businesses from other places.  Some examples are the hotel and restaurant businesses that have consolidated themselves through their own effort and are very different from those in other places.  The tenacity of these businessmen is such that in spite of criticism for not aligning with national and international chains they continue making efforts to achieve the highest standards of productivity.

Time seems to have proven them right since Mazatlan, in spite of not receiving economic help like other destinations in the country, is one of the favorite tourist destinations in the country and each day gains more and more world wide importance.

This is evident by the economic boom that Mazatlan is currently experiencing.  There are investments everywhere, in hotels, in real estate, in commerce, in services and in port activity.  Moreover, authorities are doing their part, providing on one side and on the other side improving the necessary infrastructure so that this boom continues.
