As a tourist destination, Mazatlan offers the visitor a thousand ways to have a blast. Some of the diverse activities are the entire range of water sports, sport fishing, horseback riding on the beach, camping, strolls through the city or visits to nearby pueblos. It’s up to you to decide!
One of the main activities that tourists do during their stay in Mazatlan is, of course, water sports. You can choose among breaking the waves atop a jet ski, sailing, banana boating, kayaking out to Deer Island, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing or admiring the view of the bay from a parasail.
For lovers of the exciting activity of sport fishing, Mazatlan is the ideal place. It is considered one of the best places in the world for this because of the abundance of marlin, swordfish, dorado and flying fish.
Horseback riding is another good option. You can admire the precious sunsets as you ride along the beach. There are various places that offer this service.
You can also camp in Mazatlan. Its perfect climate and lush vegetation are a great pretext for getting back in touch with nature and enjoying an adventure.
Another excellent recommendation is to get to know the main tourist attractions of Mazatlan. You can initiate your tour along the “malecon”, the long sea wall and esplanade, which is one of the representative attractions of the city. Along you stroll you can appreciate some imposing sculptures like the Continuity of Life, the Mazatlan Woman, the Fisherman’s Monument and the homage to Pedro Infante.
Don’t forget to visit the diver’s site, where brave guys showoff their ability before a crowd that always loves their impressive dives off a high rock into shallow water. You can see them day and night as in the night the divers light torches to make their show even more spectacular.
From there you can head over to the Historic Center, or Old Mazatlan, as it is also called. Much of the city’s history is stored here. You can admire the beautiful 19th century architecture of the buildings and big old houses. Some suggestions are the impressive Angela Peralta Theater that was declared part of the National Historical Patrimony in 1990, the Cannobio Portals, and the Plaza Machado, the traditional site of Carnival.
The cathedral is a few blocks away, a building that unites architecture and ornamental characteristics that make it majestic. It is unique.
If you want to escape the city, opt for a visit to some of the outlying little pueblos and get to know their tradition, food and stories. El Rosario, El Quelite, Copala, Concordia, La Noria and La Vinata de los Osuna are a few of them. They are charming.
Live a unique adventure in Mazatlán!
