In an exclusive interview with Sinaloa Interactivo, Paul Beckman, Director of the group Sendero Mexico, told us on June 2nd that as part of the 10th Edition of Expo Adventure at the World Trade Center, the associates of AMTAVE (Mexican Association of Adventure and Ecological Tourism, for 10 years a leader in the sector of nature tourism with more then 80 members around the country) have chosen the Board of directors for 2008-2010.  The board is headed up by Yolanda Ruanova, president and Paul Beckman, vice president.  Jose Eduardo Delgado was selected as Treasurer and Gavin Greenwood from Quintana Roo, Rodolfo Garcia from Veracruz, Fabricio Zardoni from Puebla, Manuel Diaz and Mario Enrique Merino of Tabasco and Bruno Gieseman of Chiapas were chosen as members of the advisory board.

Beckman pointed out that nature tourism is growing and that the new board will focus its work on the axes of the PYMES sector, the commercialization of its products on a national and international scale and the certification of businesses and specialized guides.  Because many of these businesses work in natural protected areas or high priority areas of conservation, the new AMTAVE board of directors has already signed a collaboration agreement with the regional representation of Pronatura, AC, the oldest and largest conservation organization in the country and of which Mr. Beckman is a counselor.

Beckman affirmed that AMTAVE and its associates are a sector with extraordinary relations with various institutions of the Mexican government and the private sector because of “the professionalism of the associates” and that this sector represents an enormous potential as an influence for rural development with a “combination of tourist offers that is very vast and attractive.”
