 Mazatlan, Sinaloa, México, world class beachfront Golf Resort Estrella del Mar, Friday, Jan 4, 8 AM:- It was another picture perfect Mazatlan morning, as celebrities, participants and observers gathered at the world class beachfront golf resort Estrella del Mar for the 3rd annual Charity Golf Tournament, for the benefit of the International Golf Foundation, which sponsors scholarships for worthy Mexican children. Various international celebrities were in attendance, including Emmy award winning actor Gordon Clapp of NYPD Blue, comedienne/ actress Kate Flannery of TV series The Office, and professional golfer Kim Kouwabunpat, winner of 4 US junior titles.
After a sumptuous breakfast, attendees gathered on the lawn before a breathtaking panorama of secluded beach, swaying palms and emerald green landscapes. Owner/partner Pat Butler led off the ceremonies, thanking all those working to make it happen. He then introduced Mazatlan's new mayor Jorge Abel López Sanchez, who drew a round of laughter with his expressions of appreciation for the continuing investments in the local economy.
 Austrian actor/ body builder (and portrayer of lookalike Arnold Schwarzenegger in the A & E movie See Arnold Run) called Mazatlan, "an amazing place" and vowed, "I vill be coming back here!". Kate Flannery noted that, "Mazatlan is no stranger to a good party!" and added that it was wonderful to be able to have a great party and help a worthy cause at the same time. Actress Paula Trickey, a regular on Pacific Blue for five seasons, mentioned that she appears in some thirty celebrity golf tournaments per year, but that the Estrella del Mar was her favorite. "It's a great course!" Chris Rich of Murphy Brown apologized for his Spanish, adding, "Golf is a universal language, but I don't speak it either." Polish beauty queen/gymnast/actress Eva Halina, who has appeared on Friends and The Dream Team, praised the loveliness of the grounds and the friendliness of the people. Canadian folksinger Grindstone Cal called the course the best he has ever played on. Indeed, all of the celebrities remarked on the natural beauty of the surroundings and the friendliness of the locals.
In an exclusive interview with Sinaloa Interactivo, Estrella del Mar sales director David Pool explained some of the factors that make Estrella del Mar one of the world's finest places to enjoy the sport of kings. First of all, the course is one of only two in Mexico planned by the world's foremost designer of golf courses, Robert Trent Jones. The three and a half miles of beachfront are a federally protected wildlife refuge and turtle preserve, and a PhD biologist monitors the maintenance and protection of the resort's grounds. 30% of the Estrella del Mar acreage is designated as ecologically protected green areas. No beach vendors are allowed. If you like to golf in the warm mid-winter sun, caressed by soft ocean breezes, pampered yet secluded, it's hard to beat Estrella del Mar!
